looking at it from a japanese point of view it really talks about some rather...well... sensitive subjects.
with the economy going down the drain after the bubble burst and with employment changes and stuff like that and the youth that is thinking differently than the previous generations about work and money...
especially the end where all of the people come to help as a whole group it totally reflects Japan's system of "one alone is weak but together we're strong, we are a collective, we are a unity"... which is the euphemism for "we do not care about individuals, only about the group" since that's pretty much how most Japanese firms still work and have worked for centuries.
